The judges have made six nominations and the winner will be chosen by BBC South West viewers, listeners and website users. You can vote for your favourite by calling the number below their name.

It has been a year to remember for the Somerset left-hander. As well as helping England regain the Ashes for the first time in nearly 20 years, Marcus has scored 1200 Test runs at an average of more than 60.

He has scored four Test centuries in 2005 and has also captained England during the current tour of Pakistan.

Scott Dann

Scott retained his British Middleweight title for the third time this year. Defeats of Wayne Elcock, Andy Halder, and Alan Jones at the Plymouth Pavilions ensured he won the Lonsdale Belt outright.

Scott, from Plymouth, was BBC South West Sports Personality for 2004.

Martin Pipe

The Nicholashayne based trainer won the National Hunt Championship for the 15th time. He's the only British trainer to have won over 3,000 races.

Martin also holds the record for the most wins and place prize money in a single season, and the fastest 50, 100, 150 and 200 winners in a season. He has been the leading trainer in terms of winners every year since 1985.

The 26-year-old Yeovil Town player was the leading scorer in League Two in 2004/05. His 29 goals helped Yeovil to a second promotion in three seasons.

This season has seen him get among the goals again as Yeovil have adapted well to life in a higher league.

Dreya Wharry

Dreya is a world champion wave skier. This year she set a World Record for the longest continual kitesurf journey.

She travelled a distance of 118 nautical miles from Watergate Bay in Cornwall to Ireland.

Andy Priaulx

The Guernsey driver won the World Touring Car Championship this year to add to the European title in 2004. He is also looking to become a Formula One test driver after testing for Williams in 2005.

The voting lines are now closed. The results will be revealed at 10pm on Sunday 4th December.
