Exeter based girl-fronted rock band, The Climb

The Climb

This is the second time The Climb have appeared in our demos section. They were one of the first bands on the site and have been through several changes to the line-up since then. So here they are again, waiting for you to audition "Lana".

Andrea Barber is the lead singer with Exeter based rock band The Climb, she's been talking to Devon Demos.

Q: This is the second time you've appeared on Devon Demos. How come?
A: The Climb have been together since March 2001 but we've been through several line-up changes since then. We're really happy with the present line-up and thought we ought to update our page on Devon Demos to reflect our current sound.

EP: Who Shot Lana Clarkson?

Q: Tell us about the present line-up...
A: It's me, Andrea Barber, on vocals and rhythm guitar, Pete Firth on drums, Duane Pearson on Bass and Andy Wood on guitar. We're all based in Exeter although Andy's from Cheltenham. He's at uni here.

Q: Remind us how you chose the name, The Climb?
A: It's the title of a song from No Doubt's 'Tragic Kingdom' album.

Q: What's the name of the track you've chosen to demo?
A: It's called Your Lana. It's about the Lana Clarkson/Phil Spector murder case. It's tragic she never hit the big time.

Q: Can you sum up your sound in three words?
A: Girl-fronted-rock!

Q: What do you think of the current music scene?
A: Not enough girl-fronted bands are making it!

Q: Whose records do you have in your collection?
A: Foo Fighters, Muse, Coldplay, Ash, Feeder, No Doubt, Blondie, Pretenders, Funeral For A Friend, Jimmy Eat World, Green Day, Placebo, Snow Patrol, to name but a few.

Gigging at Ottery St Mary

Gigging at Ottery St Mary

Q: What's been your most memorable?
A: Playing live on ITV's The Base was good fun.

Q: If you could invite ANY three people to a dinner party, who would you ask?
A: Kurt Cobain, Kirsty MacColl and John Denver. They all died too soon.

Q: Complete the sentence: "When we become famous....."
A: ....we'll never forget all the local people who've come out to see us and support us at tiny gigs.

Q: So what are your dreams?
A: We've played a lot of gigs and have a lot of internet support. We'd love to have a record deal. It'd be cool if more people bought our music from iTunes too!
