What is Video Nation?

Video Nation started off in 1993.
It was a series of short films made by the public, which were screened on BBC2.

Now it's on the web and we're looking for people in Derbyshire to get involved.

Your videos will be shown on the web and will be added to a growing national online archive of everyday life in Britain.

Tell the world what you love, what you hate, what makes you laugh and what makes you cry. Wash the car, watch telly, shout at the kids, go to work, argue with your partner and kiss and make up.

Get things off your chest, comment on local issues and national events. Show us your home, your family - you.

We want to hear from you...

...if you have an unusual pastime, hobby, interest or collection. Use the form to let us know and we'll get in touch with you.
We're also looking to hear from Derbyshire people in the following categories:
Enjoy walking or hiking in Derbyshire Being a junior footballer
Have a strong view on speed cameras Never been abroad
New university or college student Member of a rock band

Who edits the tapes?
We do, but you have overall control.

If you are unhappy about a finished video, then it doesn't get shown.

That way you are free to shoot first, decide later.

I've never used a camcorder - does that matter?
No - and you don't have to be technically-minded either. We will provide all the training and advice you need to film successfully.

What will happen to my recordings?
Your tape may be edited into a short video and shown on the website, once you've agreed the final version. If you change your mind about a video later on, we'll take it down as soon as possible. We use streaming technology, which means the videos can't be downloaded or kept by users.

What's in it for me?
It's an opportunity to share your views and experiences with others; to talk directly to both local and national audiences and to add your videos to the growing, online archive of everyday life.
