If
you love music and film this is a must for you!
As
part of their tour the Cinematic Orchestra are in Derby playing
live accompaniment to the classic film - The Man with the Movie
Camera.
The
band were approached in 1999 by organisers of the Porto Film Festival
and asked to lend their unique sound to the black and white film.
These guys merge jazz and contemporary club beats to produce a melting
pot of gorgeous symphonic noise. It's perfect soundtrack music.

| The
Cinematic Orchestra |
The
Man with the Movie Camera is a Russian silent movie made in 1929.
It inspired a generation of Soviet film makers. Directed by Dziga
Vertov it's an analytical study of the Soviet Union at a crucial
transitional stage. Considered as one of the most seminal and therefore
controversial films in the history of cinema.
The
Cinematic Orchestra have been described, by NME, as classy and cerebral,
but atmospheric and soulful too.
Headed
by J Swinscoe, a full blooded funky dude with swing to rival James
Brown he's also a seriously ambitious musician who is as concerned
with how sound looks as with how it sounds.
