When told the BBC budget could stump up a cup of tea and an easy chair, he accepted gladly. Never one to be shy at coming forward, Shane is determined to treat everyone the same on the new look breakfast show "whether it's David Dimbleby or Rod from Spondon - I will get the answers to the questions people want." Every weekday morning, listeners in Derbyshire and East Staffordshire get a unique slice of local life, together with news, travel, weather and sport plus the issues of the day, all served up by the unique personality that is Shane. Help playing audio/video In addition to that, he also presents Saturday Breakfast from 6am-9am. The life story...Probably one of the finest things to come out of Walsall apart from the A34, Shane first appeared on BBC Radio WM's Late Show in late 1998, where he reviewed film and theatre and generally helped out around the studio. It was at this point that Shane decided that radio could be a career option. "I was at a funny age, in fact I have been since the age of fourteen, but I had followed a career in business services management which I really didn't enjoy and offered little stimulation. "Suddenly I realised that it could be possible to enjoy what you do for a living". A keen musician, Shane plays guitar, bass guitar, piano (with one finger), sings and is studying the comb and paper (also with one finger). He currently plays with two working bands. Help playing audio/video He has studiously avoided marriage, children and any other expensive pastimes. They said we wouldn't dare..... but hear the proof every weekday morning from seven with Shane O'Connor's Breakfast Show Hear Shane: |
