Our
virtual tour has been compiled by one of Derby's Blue Bade Guides.
Derby has much to offer the visitor. It
is both an ancient town and a relatively young city, with a surprising
mixture of old and new architecture to be enjoyed.
Derby
was declared a city by HM The Queen in 1977.
About one third of the nation lives within 60 miles of Derby
- many in cities like Manchester, Sheffield, Nottingham, Leicester,
Coventry and Birmingham.
Derby lies less than 20 miles from the Peak District National
Park, which attracts around 22 million visitors a year.
Derbyshire
is fortunate to have around 22 Blue Badge guides - four of which are
based in Derby itself.
All the guides have a signifcant depth of knowledge in their local
areas and haave many interesting and sometimes unusual facts at their
fingertips.
