About The Beat

The Beat airs every Saturday night from 6.00pm until 10.00pm on BBC Radio Derby and other local radio stations across central England.

The Beat's presented by Dean Jackson along with Emma, Tom and the Supreme Team.

At its heart is lively new music; the sort of thing you want to listen to at 'the peak of the weekend.' But The Beat is more than a pop 'n' prattle show! Mixed in with the star guests is new talent, mind enhancing features and all sorts of techno wizardry!

Amongst the 'bigger' guests to have appeared on The Beat recently are REM, Oasis, Muse and The Strokes. At the newer end of the spectrum, The Guillemots, Plan B, Corinne Bailey Rae and The Kooks have dropped by.

The Beat also profiles local talent. Over the years, hundreds of local musicians have had their material aired on the programme.

Amongst the unique features of The Beat are the ringtone randomiser (in which you can get a free mobile makeover!) and infuriatingly addictive brain busters! Add to that the great Saturday night music, live sessions and the Supreme Team and you have something a little special for your Saturday night.
