Air Ambulance At Work

Two special video reports looking at the work of our local air ambulance service.

Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance

If you ever have the misfortune to need an air ambulance it's likely the Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance will be scrambled.

BBC East Midlands Today has had full exclusive access to incident scenes and our local hospitals' A&E departments for two weeks to experience the type of work the air ambulance is involved in.

Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance

In the first of two special reports, Jonathan Cecil followed the team as they dealt with a head on collision near Shepshed and a woman with a possible back injury near Parwich in the Peak District - both needed transporting to the Royal Derby Hospital.

And in the second of our special reports the air ambulance - call sign Helimed 5-4 - deals with an accident near Carsington Water, an emergency on the M1 and the transfer of a critically ill child to hospital.
