A date with the PM!

Mickleover's Sue Jones reflects on her day at 10 Downing Street with Prime Minister Gordon Brown

Not many of us can say we've ever been inside 10 Downing Street - but Sue Jones from Mickleover certainly can.

She was invited to spend a day at the prime minister's official home in recognition of her years helping to raise money for nature and wildlife groups in Derbyshire.

Sue, who is chair of the Derby Natural History Society, was among 40 volunteers chosen from each region's Wildlife Trust.

As well as Gordon Brown, government ministers Ed Milliband and Hillary Benn were present at the get-together.

The volunteers listened to a short speech by the prime minister before being led into the garden for food and drink.

Sue has had a lifelong passion for nature and wildlife and contributes to the Derbyshire Wildlife Trust's fundraising efforts by helping to organise annual quizzes on a variety themes.

She says she enjoyed the day, in which the prime minister revealed his children have been growing their own vegetables to help protect the environment.

And now it's over, the work continues - Sue is busy helping to organise the latest quiz, this time on the theme of birds.

For more information about the current and future quizzes, you can call Sue on 01332 515859.
