Live opera on Derby's big screen

All the pleasures of the world-renowned Royal Opera House on your doorstep! Get your posh togs on, grab a blanket and make sure you're there for this landmark event.

Derby's Big Screen will be showing another live opera in the Market Place this summer.

The Barber Of Seville - A Close Shave

Wednesday 15th July, 7.30pm

We are in Seville. The adoring Count Almaviva has got the hots for Rosina, the gorgeous young ward of the elderly local doctor, Bartolo, who plans to marry the young beauty himself - the old dog! After serenading and sending love letters the Count enlists the help of Figaro, local gofer and barber, to get into Rosina's house.

Arrests, false identities and a general comedy of errors follow in the Count's attempts to snatch Rosina from under the scheming Doctor's nose.

Rossini's energetic and instantly recognizable opera features the singing talents of Joyce DiDonato, Simon Keenlyside and Juan Diego Flórez to name but three in this exceptional cast.
