BBC News School Report Day at Bemrose School
Pupils at Bemrose School in Derby have been finding out for themselves what it's like to produce their own news bulletins...
Around 20 pupils at Derby's Bemrose School have taken part in BBC News School Report Day.
The group of 12 and 13-year-olds spent the day researching news stories and creating video and audio bulletins.
The head teacher gets a grilling
The students scoured the internet and local and national newspapers to find what they considered to be interesting and topical stories for them to explore. They then spent the morning rewriting the reports and preparing to record them.
The reports are now available via the school's website (link on right).
Stories they opted to cover included the use of TV adverts to inform about abortion, a woman who has been in a coma for nearly 40 years, sport and weather. The school's headteacher, Jo Ward, was on the receiving end of a grilling by two of the pupils about the forthcoming partnership between Littleover School and Bemrose.

Since the beginning of the year, they've been learning to spot stories and report them accurately and entertainingly for their website.
Now, they have put all their new skills into practice - you can follow the link to Bemrose School's web pages and judge how well our future newsgatherers shape up.
