GPs and Hospitals
Out of normal GP surgery hours, simply phone your usual surgery number and you will be redirected to the out-of-hours service. This service is available whenever your GP surgery is closed.
Remember that the help and advice is available from the NHS Direct website at www.nhsdirect.nhs.uk (link below) or call 0845 46 47. At busy times someone will phone you back, but you can call again if symptoms seem to be getting worse.
Only use the A&E department at your local hospital for genuine emergencies. Otherwise, your GP should be your first port of call if you need medical care.
For minor ailments and injuries you can visit Derby's Walk-in Centre on the Derbyshire Royal Infirmary site.
In Derby, the emergency dental service is available between 10am and 5pm over Christmas by ringing 01332 888085. A dental emergency is described as trauma, bleeding or swelling or pain not alleviated by painkillers.
In other areas, phone your usual dental practice number and you will be given further advice there.
