BBC Derby Introducing

Since the release of my 2006 album 'Flotsam' I have certainly been a busy bee.

I've been playing loads of acoustic gigs to smoke-free rooms and meeting lots of colourful characters along the way!

I've also found time outside of nine-to-five to scribble down ideas whilst absorbing the inspirational vibes of the wonderful world around me (and some sunshine, well about one day's worth this year!)

In fact the new album was hugely inspired by a road-trip to France. Spending the week of my 27th birthday in the middle of a beautiful nowhere with a litter of orphaned kittens and a rebel hedgehog who decided he wanted to swim!

From that point I could feel nine songs bubbling inside of me so I decided it was time to lock myself away in my home-built studio and begin to lay out the initial stages of my second album.

It felt right to take a different approach to producing this time around and simplify everything.  So it became me, my guitar and then a little accompaniment from percussion, bass, keys, and harmonies.

I'd love to one day replicate this sound out live! Any double bass players out there, give me a call!

Lyrically I feel as if I have moved to another side of the world in my head. I have certainly done some growing up and some chilling out.

Life moves faster, you have less time to think and so much to contend with! I am lucky to have amazing people in my life that rein me in and always put everything in perspective.

I am really excited to be releasing the new album over the next couple of weeks. Pre-order sales have been really encouraging so get your copy asap!
