Preview: Riff Raff Festival

Interested in three days of music, dance, art and good food? Riff Raff organiser Soesen Eden explains the ethos behind this new Ashbourne festival...

The Riff Raff Festival originally started as a group of like-minded individuals who wanted to put on a slightly different gig.

In 2005 we organised a small impromptu outdoor free party. This then lead to setting up a three-day festival on a small farm in Derbyshire and many other ideas, projects, initiatives and dreams.

The whole group is made up of many more people than the original five founding members who join in to different extents depending on the event or project.

That is how Riff Raff works - you don't just come to one of our events, you are a part of it.

Riff Raff creates events, projects, festivals and random happenings, all concerned with the following principles:

  • music, art and performance
  • sustainability
  • human rights and freedom
  • creative and expressive instincts
  • materials and energy efficiency research
  • community building and cohesion

Riff Raff is a completely not-for-profit voluntary organisation. We like to keep things as pirate and riff raff as possible so that we don't lose the spontaneity and magic!

So to summarise, Riff Raff is three days of bands, djs, arts, crafts, music and dance workshops.
