Help playing audio/video The Derbyshire Building Society 10k will begin at 9.30am on Sunday, April 20, with the route expected to take in Derby city centre before finishing inside Pride Park Stadium. Online entries are now being accepted. A 3k fun run will also be held on the day, starting at 11am. Participants will be free to run, walk or jog the traffic-free course – wearing fancy dress if they wish – and all finishers will receive a medal. Wheelchair entries are also welcome. Organised by Sporting Futures, the event is a highlight of Derbyshire's sporting calendar, and also helps to raise money for the Derby-based charity which uses sport to reach out to young people and help them gain life skills and communicate better with those around them. David Coleman, Chair of Sporting Future's Management Committee, said of the race: "[The event] has quickly become a firm favourite with serious distance runners, joggers, and fun runners alike, and the event is growing in stature year by year. "Anyone wanting to take part is encouraged to register early to ensure a place in the line-up. It represents a fantastic opportunity to get fit, take part in a very well-organised event, and help raise money to give young people in Derbyshire an excellent introduction to what will hopefully be a lifetime’s participation in sport." last updated: 26/01/2009 at 12:45 You are in: Derby > In Pictures > Photo Galleries > Derby 10k and Fun Run 2008 |
