Derby Traditional Music and Arts Festival
This first Derby Traditional Music and Arts Festival seems to have something to offer everyone as it brings together music, dance, workshops, three special shows and a handful of concerts - all based in the Derby Assembly Rooms and Derby Guildhall.

Three special shows are included in this event: The Idiot and Friend
Dancers will be well catered for with two ceilidhs: the Albion Ceilidh on Friday evening with The Old Swan Band, Caller Dave Hunt, and dance spots from three of the country's leading teams, Handsworth Sword, Poynton Jemmers and Feet First. The Persian Cat & Carpet Company with Vicky Johnson play for the Saturday afternoon Family Ceilidh.
There are three separate concerts over the two days: the Final Concert on Saturday night in the Great Hall featuring the special magic of Waterson : Carthy - one of Britain's most successful and influential folk bands; the passion and talent of esteemed duo John Tams and Barry Coope - leading singer songwriter Steve Tilston - and amazing young Derbyshire four-piece Band, Kerfuffle.
Saturday Workshops and Fringe Events will include vocal harmony, song writing, improvers fiddle and a folk club, fun and games for the kids with Dr Sunshine and a special hour with John Tams and Ashley Hutchings in conversation about The Making of Lark Rise at the National Theatre.
