BBC Radio Derby listeners have been describing how a tornado swept through part of Derby. Part of a roof was ripped of at a council depot in Stores Road. It's also said to have brought down a tree on Sir Frank Whittle Road and two more nearby. In Derby's Cardinal Square the tornado felled a tree - it landed on two Jaguar cars belonging to two building managers. Andy Neale told BBC Derby: "I was standing right next to where it happened and heard the crack and went inside after I prized the automatic doors open that were jammed due to the pressure of the tornado wind on them." Richard Wheeler was operating a crane 120 feet in the air on Derby's Ashbourne Road when the tornado hit. He said: "It came from nowhere. Imagine being stood infront of a shower unit, times it by about fifty and add an 80 mph wind to it... that's what I was getting as I was climbing down. My crane was twisting left, right and centre!" In Darley Abbey, Alex Gadsby also experienced the tornado: "We heard two loud bangs during "The Storm" and after investigation we saw that a tree in our front garden had been ripped in two and had fallen into next door's front drive. "As you can see on the photos it was perfectly healthy and not rotten inside so it must have been some force to take it down! There was also damage to the plants in our garden and the creeper on our house had come away from it as well (it's normally very hard to move!)." Elsewhere, in Ilkeston, lightning hit the Cavendish Road site of South East Derbyshire College - it'll be closed tomorrow (Friday). And in Ashbourne, Dig Street was closed for a while as flash flooding rendered the street impassible. Do you have pictures or video of the tornado or the damage it caused?
