FaithYou are in: Derby > Faith > Faith Hope and Enterprise ![]() Mick rears their birds from chicks Faith Hope and EnterpriseWhere can you go to change your life while finding kinship with the worms on an organic farm? Faith Hope and Enterprise: it’s a smart title for an equally smart outfit. ![]() Mick with that cherished chainsaw Sited on part of the old ancestral Meynall Langley Estate, Faith Hope and Enterprise is a Christian organisation which sets out to turn lives around. It succeeds, too, as Mick would testify. His full name : Michael Daniel Lairikkala testifies to his Finnish descent. He was able to recover here from decades of drug addiction, while learning organic farming and survival skills. Mick’s become a convinced Christian himself, with an interesting take on his woodcraft exams: “If God wants me to get my chainsaw licence, I’ll get my chainsaw licence”. Help playing audio/video He’s undeterred despite having to postpone taking the relevant exam : our Finn injured his eye as part of his Viking exploits – another passion!
Carl Taylor is in charge of the outfit which houses adults like Mick as they learn organic methods, while also tailoring courses for school refusers – for youngsters who’ve rejected orthodox education. The organic fruit and vegetables, the turkeys, chickens and geese are all sold to help support the enterprise: that word doesn’t appear in the title for nothing! The team may be Christians, but the doors are open to people of all beliefs or none. They’ll provide the Hope for those who will join in the Enterprise - and who knows what part Faith might ultimately play in the equation. last updated: 20/05/2009 at 14:24
