Igor returns for Ted benefit

Igor Stimac is the latest name confirmed for the benefit match for former Derby County legend Ted McMinn - but who else would you like to see feature?

The former Derby County captain Igor Stimac has signed up to appear in the forthcoming benefit match for Ted McMinn.

The Croatian, who captained the Rams during their time in the Premiership, is the latest ex-Derby star to commit to the May 1st event.

Stimac told BBC Radio Derby: "I'm looking forward to coming in May to join the Derby County supporters and the rest of the ex-players to have a wonderful afternoon there in Derby.

"It will be wonderful [to put on a Derby County shirt again]. I hope that many of [the fans] will remember the great four years we had together. It's always nice to be itouch with [them] because they were so wonderful to me.

I hope that in the near future Derby will have someone who will lead them back to the premier league."

And he said he was still enjoying a career in football: "I am on the board of directors for Hajduk Split, my home club, - I was also in the role of sports director in the club.

"I do some training sessions and we play some friendly games... I'm in good shape still."

Kevin Hector, Peter Shilton, Mark Wright and Roger Davies will appear in an Arthur Cox-managed Derby team while Ally McCoist, Brian Laudrup, Mark Hateley and Andy Goram  feature in a Glasgow Rangers 'nine-in-a-row' side led by Archie Knox.

Stuart McAlpine

bruno1690

I would like to see Bobby Davison as he was a great player for the club when we had a very poor side.
Cameron Harris

roy mcfarland has to be a dead cert
steve

Defo got to get Asanovic, Baino and Van Der Laan playing this game. Van Der Laan was Derby Masters captain so he must still want to play for The Rams!
Lee Brown

some of my earliest memories of going to see Rangers involved the tin man's mazy runs i'm hoping to see them again when i travel up to derby with some of the london bears for what should be a great day all the best to you ted hope you enjoy your day.
Steve Owen

Francesco Baiano deserves a run out. As a staunch Derby fan i think it'd be nice to see Stuart Pearce turn out as an honourary Ram. He and the "Tin man" had some epic tussles and i reckon even with one leg Ted would still get the better of him.
Big Lee

Phil Gee & Dean Saunders up front!!
James Syson

think its a great idea, coming down from Hamilton , cant wait to see Legends the likes of Coisty n co kicking a ball again !!
Alan Horne ( Hamilton)

I'd like to see Giorgi Kinkladze play in Ted's benefit game!
Michael Barraclough

Paul Gascoine for the Rangers nine in a row select, side without gazza there would be no nine in a row . Best wishes to Ted we grew up in the same street in Dumfries whare the big man stood out like a sore thumb with a ball at his feet even wene we were boys.
Stewart Mccormick Hornchurch ,Essex

Am off just 2 see legend igor. We should get Asanovic, Eranio and Sturrige back. Plus Manel and Beck 4 a laugh
Ben Davo Huddersfield

paul gascoigne, without a doubt the most gifted player these lands have ever seen and the greatest fans in the world would gladly travel to derby to see him run riot again!
the rangers legions

What about Ted Mcminn playing with his teddy bear at his side as he was a quick drinking top man who could play 90 mins and have a bottle of whiskey at the same time. HENRIK LARSSON said he may play as well.
Ted McMinn

Great idea - what about trying to get Gazza to play? Also a player who I think would have played alongside Ted at Rangers - Robert Prytz
Eric Stewart

I'd love to see Archie Gemmill. What about John Robertson as well?
Tim

How about Charlie George,Colin Boulton,Steve Powell, and Mark Wright, maybe he could stay and manage them, all the best Ted.
John in Exeter

How about Dean Saunders,Alan Durban, and Dave Cargill
John Exeter

i'm a forest fan but i will always have respect for him. him and psycho used to have the best tussles, full-on, no holds barred tackles which showed all their spirit. sometimes decent blokes shine through the rivalry and can be admired by both sides, and ted was one of those players.
matt, dorset

The first game i went to was Rams v Telford in the cup! and the star of that game was BOBBY DAVISON! Steve Cherry was in goal too! Ted McMinn was my favourite player, I have my tickets already! Good Luck Ted!

i think it will be a ted-iffic day for the the tin man, the quality of player on show and the support that rangers will bring is well deserving for a man of ted's staure. Looking forward to it already.
Scott McDavid (Glasgow)

Tim Hartwell (from Ripley)

I see all the big names have been suggested. How about Martin Taylor, an excellent servant to the club?
Ian

For those fans who did not see Derby win the Football League championship twice in 4 seasons, it would be wonderful for them to see the best centre back partnership we have ever had. I mean of course Roy McFarland & Colin Todd. In those two seasons we conceded just 28 goals at home. What a change to today.
Derek Wiliamson

Bobby Davison Dean Saunders Colin Todd Roy McFarland Stefano Eranio
Paul Taylor

Glad 2 c Igor bck hopefully seein him play his talent might rub of on the rest of the team! CUM ON U RAMS

Ian Taylor

james trussell

Well done Ted, i hope it sells out, but couldn't we have the game over the next couple of weeks so we could Kidnap Arthur Cox and Igor, they could probably teach the current management how to run a team!!!!
Miles, Derby

How about Archie Gemmill for the Tin Man's Team
Rosemary Chaddesden

Couldn't be bettered for me with my two favourite players lined up - King Kevin and Igor. Would also like to see Eranio and Asanovic if possible. Best wishes to Ted for a highly successful testimonial.
Elaine Dean
