Veteran rocker Rod Stewart is to appear in concert at Pride Park Stadium in June as part of his summer tour.

In doing so, the 60-year-old will become the first major artist to perform at Derby County's home ground. His numerous hits include Tonight's the Night, Sailing, The First Cut is the Deepest, Downtown Train and Do Ya Think I'm Sexy?

He will showcase songs from his Grammy award-winning album The Great American Songbook III together with a selection of his classic hits from his 30-year solo career. (Use the 'What Will Rod Sing?' link on the right to find out more)

The concert takes place on Sunday 26th June at 8pm and tickets, which go on sale on Saturday (16th April) at 9am, will be priced from £35 to £65.

Pride Park Stadium
Pride Park Stadium will be transformed

The stadium will be transformed into a 20,000 all-seater venue for the occasion. The stage will be set into the stadium's Derbyshire Community Stand (north) with seating on the pitch and in the west and east stands.

The announcement was made by Derby County's operations director, Paul Clouting, who said: "We are delighted to welcome Rod Stewart to Pride Park Stadium.

"To attract a major international artist is a coup for both the club and the county.

"The event forms part of our plan to establish Pride Park Stadium as the East Midlands' number one venue in terms of entertainment, as well as football and business activity.

"The concert is subject to licence but the club has been working with the city council on that."

Mr Clouting added that both George Burley and the groundsman had been consulted about the possible effects of covering the pitch and that they are confident of having sufficient time for the turf to recover in time for the start of the new season.

Tickets will be available online through independent ticketing agency Seetickets.com and via a telephone hotline 0870 060 3789. Tickets are not available from Pride Park Stadium or the club.

I have never seen Rod in concert. I have most of his CD's and enjoy his music. Especially after a hard day at work. It helps me unwain. I did not get into his music until 2002 when my father and wtepmother where celerbrity there 25th wedding annivarsary and I heard the song Have I Told You Lately. Which was the best way they felt about each other. Thanks Rod.

I have been many times to see him a few times with a good friend Lyn Caple Wembley Stadium. What a day that was. But the best was N.E.C first row my husband came that time and it was out of this world. Hope this one will be as well. Your the best go rod.You improve with age.
Kath Pidcock

I was on the phone at 8.30 so I would get good seat's for my husband and daughter and myself we have been fan's for ----yrs. We could only get row24 as the first 24 are promoter only. Then on E Bay last week you could buy row3 how is this it's not are to the people that suport him for year's. I have wrote to him and complained. We had a personal photo signed by him to my husband and when I wrote I did say it would be great to see him perform at our new stadium and the dream came true.

I hear that there are still plenty of tickets to be had ( I have mine) but the gig does not seem to be as well publicised as his other venues any idea why?
The Faces

Iam so pleased he is coming to derby as I dont have to travel up and down the country to see him.
ALEX

Rod is my hero! All of my mates laugh at my Rod bed sheets but I love him.
Ben Ricketts

laci

Top Marks to Derby County. I have the unfortunate pleasure of living in Leicester. Point proved here. At least DCFC no how to organise a concert unlike a certain club not to many miles down the road. Oh what happened to the Foxes music festival. Keep the flag flying Derby. At least someone knows how to represent the East Midlands
Karl

there have been hundreds of 'big name acts' in derby!! If people bothered to look in the paper then they could have seen oasis, pulp, shed 7, bluetones, everything but the girl, snow patrol, beats capri and even the beekeepers!!! Get out there and support your local venues!!
djja

Great I'm booked in and ready - but I hope the south car park will be available to us Rams season tocket holders !!!
Bucko

we first saw rod in a little pub in cromford, followed him to mansfield co-op hall, clouds in derby, the n.e.c,wembley stadium, the m.g.m grand in las vegas, and now the ultimate----pride park. MAGIC.
dennis watson

What a way to celebrate Pride Park's return to the Premiership
Keith Fox

There is no support bill. Gates will open at 1630, and Rod will be on stage at 2000 approx.
John

How many supporting groups will be performing, and who will they be?
Ian Perry

Whoever thought of asking this great performer, in my opinion one of the best, to play at Derby County's fantastic ground, needs a huge pat on the back. Go Rod...D'ya think I'm sexy?....Definitely!!!!!!!
Lyn Caple

Its excellent news - at long last we will be able to see such a big star at Pride Park
Yvonne Law

I always wished since my very early years that Rod would come to Derby, my second home. He is like a brother to me, and I have followed him all around the world whether it be for his gigs or whether he is simply on holiday. Fond memories of us meeting in Peterhead have com flooding back since this announcement. It can't get better than this. See you soon Rockin' Roddie !
Tony McRiordan, an exiled Jock, Derby

Bring it on!! Hopefully this will pave the way for legendary acts and concerts in Derby.
Matt Cogill, Derby

Oh Joy, Oh Joy, I am going to start queing as soon as the tickets become available........Dooooo ya think i'm sexy !!!!????
Craig Whitby, Derby

Excellent News, it's about time we started to get concerts at the Stadium. If Notts Forest can get REM in their tin pot stadium, why can't we get great performers at ours. I'm fed up of having to drive miles to watch concerts elsewhere, not that Rod Stewarts my thing, but it's a start. Let's have more of it.
Paul Pounder

about time a big name act in derby
