Valentine's Day Music

By Veronica Wall
With Valentine’s Day on the horizon and cupids arrow bearing down on towns and cities everywhere, starry-eyed couples all over the country are gearing up for the most romantic day of the year.

Restaurants are rapidly becoming fully booked and shops are overflowing with cards and goodies, all in the name of Saint Valentine.

The 14th of February is famous for proposals of marriage and over-the-top romantic gestures to the ones you love. It lends itself perfectly to telling that ‘special someone’ just how special they really are and is the ideal opportunity to remind yourself just how much you really love someone.

Music is also instrumental to celebrations on Valentine’s Day and it wouldn’t be the same if it wasn’t for the romantic ballads and slushy love songs that get released every February. In 2002 Enrique Iglesias had a number one hit with ‘Hero’ and the year before that, Atomic Kitten topped the charts with Whole Again.

In an attempt to find out which love songs get your pulse's racing, we took to the streets of Derbyshire and asked you for your favourite romantic records.

Find out who said what by clicking on the gallery link to the right-hand-side.
