The
Old Hall in Orchard Street is thought to be the oldest building
in the village and legend has it that Oliver Cromwell stayed
there during the civil war.
The
Community Centre today used to be a National school for Boys
and Girls in 1881.
The
Nags Head pub where the bus is parked used to have an old railway
carriage in its garden.
Mickleover Sports Football Club was originally founded in 1948.
For the next 44 years they were the longest serving members
of that league.
The Parish Church of All Saints is early 14th Century but most
of it was restored in the late 19th century.
The village of Mickleover is stretched out along the main Uttoxeter
Road.
It is 2 miles outside of Derby and despite the main supermarket in
the village, the Old Market Place and Orchard Street around The Square
means that the village retains its old character.
In 1968, the boundary of the city of Derby was extended and absorbed
the village.

the buildings in the village are attractive and full of character.
Mickleover Manor is hidden by a long wall. It was let out as a private
prep school for a number of years and has since been used as a hospital
for the elderly.
The Great Northern Railway which arrived in 1876, meant the number
of houses expanded in the village which has continued ever since,
and Mickleover station is now over a mile from the centre of the village.
