E-learning package uptake 'a bit messy' says Darren Millar

The e-learning package has "appalling" uptake figures according to the Chair of the Public Accounts Committee, Darren Millar on 4 February 2014.

Mr Millar was referring to the Nutrition Care Pathway and the Food Record Charts that are used as mainstream practice for hospital catering and patient nutrition, with the e-learning package as its training resource.

The committee members were questioning Professor Jean White, Chief Nursing Officer, Welsh Government when Mr Millar said "it's 2 years since we told you this is a priority" and that training was as low as "1 in 20 in some places" where staff had engaged in the programme, with Hywel Dda Health Board following a different route.

Mr Millar said "this sounds a bit messy".

Professor White's answer was simply "yes" and that she agreed these were appalling figures.

Professor White said that the figures show e-training was up to 23% but said she "realised this should be 100%".
