Short debate: media changes

Help

Labour member Ken Skates led a debate on changing the role of local and regional media across Wales on 23 April 2013.

He set forward his ideas on how journalism in Wales could be supported, and emphasised how important the printed press is for "keeping democracy on its toes".

One of his ideas was creating a "coherent fund" so that money spent on advertising could be channelled to where it is most needed within the press.

"We have the ability and we need to develop an unique model that others can copy."

Culture Minister John Griffiths thanked Mr Skates for bringing forward his debate and agreed that more needed to be done to assist Welsh media.
