MSPs back principle of 16 and 17 year-old referendum vote


MSPs have voted in favour of allowing 16 and 17 year olds to take part in next year's independence referendum.

The vote, which was 97 votes to 12, was on the general principles of the Scottish Independence Referendum (Franchise) Bill, which followed the second part of the debate.
