SNP MSP Gordon MacDonald congratulated Dads Rock and its founders David Marshall and Thomas Lynch on the 1st anniversary of the musical charity, during his member's debate on 7 May 2013.

Mr MacDonald said Dads Rock is Scotland's only free musical playgroup for dads and their kids.

Two groups have been established, at Sighthill and Granton in Edinburgh, since it started in February 2012.

Dads Rock expansion plans for 2013, include starting a group in Fife and establishing a Dads Rock academy, which will aim to provide one year of free music tuition to children and dads in the Sighthill area.

The Edinburgh Pentlands MSP said the charity provided a place for dads to come and see other fathers about being a dad as "nobody gives you a manual on how to raise children".

Children and Young People Minister Aileen Campbell said : "I admire and applaud their work and achievement".
