MSPs unanimously agreed to note the recommendations and conclusions from the Economy, Energy and Tourism Committee's report on the achievability of the Scottish government's renewables targets , after the second part of the debate on 21 February 2013.

The Scottish government has set itself a series of targets for the development of renewable energy technologies by 2020 in the electricity, heat and transport sectors.

The committee's central finding was that the Scottish government's renewable energy target for electricity generation of 100% equivalent from renewable sources by 2020 was achievable, but only if a number of issues were addressed.
