Foreign Affairs Committee

Members of the Foreign Affairs Committee took evidence on the UK's relations with Hong Kong, 30 years after the Joint Declaration, on 4 November 2014.

The Sino-British Joint Declaration on the Question of Hong Kong set out the arrangements for the transfer of sovereignty over Hong Kong to China under the 'one country, two systems' principle.

Evidence was heard from:

• Lord Patten, former governor of Hong Kong

• Professor Niv Horesh, Professor of the Modern History of China, Nottingham University

• Dr Malte Kaeding, lecturer in International Relations, University of Surrey
