Transport Committee

The Transport Committee held an evidence session on High Speed Rail on 25 March 2014.

The committee is examining the proposals to bring forward construction of the new railway to Crewe and link HS2 more closely to the existing network.

MPs question Sir David Higgins on improvements to east-west links between Liverpool, Manchester, Leeds and Hull, as well as suggested changes to the connection between HS1 and HS2.

The committee also takes evidence on a report from the HS2 Growth Taskforce, which was published this week.

Evidence was heard from:

  • Sir David Higgins, chairman, HS2 ltd
  • Lord Deighton, Commercial Secretary to HM Treasury and chair of the HS2 Growth Taskforce
