Liberal Democrat MSP Alison McInnes asked Justice Secretary Kenny MacAskill whether he would provide an update on the outcome of the Scottish Police Authority meeting on 18 January, during topical question time on 22 January 2013.

Mr MacAskill said "following discussions with the Chief Constable, chair and members I made a request to ensure the Chief Constable has the support of police staff in HR and finance, which was accepted by the Scottish Police Authority.

"Agreement was reached at the SPA board meeting on January 18th and joint work is now taking place to implement what was agreed".

Mr MackAskill added "the chair and Chief Constable have both written to the justice committee to confirm agreement has been reached and i look forward to continuing to work with them to ensure a smooth transition to the new service".

The issue of who should have day-to-day control of human resources and finance functions had been in dispute.

SNP MSP Annabelle Ewing then asked Transport Minister Keith Brown whether he would provide an update following the recent winter weather conditions.

Mr Brown said the the "impact in Scotland itself has been limited" but also that "we can't afford to be complacent however".
