The Darwinian Sistine Chapel

14 April, 11am Radio 4

Whilst Michelangelo depicted his vision of God creating Earth on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel, The Natural History Museum is doing the same by having its ceiling decorated with art inspired by the theories of Charles Darwin.

Tania Kovats beat off a strong field of Britain's top artists to win the art competition organised by the museum. Her winning design is called 'Tree' and was unveiled on 12 February to coincide with the 200th anniversary of Darwin's birth.

The programme explores the trials and tribulations of conceiving and erecting such a difficult installation.
