Third Party specialise in authentic Shakespeare, recreating the spirit of the 16th and 17th Century travelling players who first took the Bard 'on the road' to entertain unsuspecting provincials.

In 1598 a group of Shakespeare's players took a performance of Richard III on a tour of the 'Cinque Ports' (Hastings, Sandwich, Dover, New Romney and Hythe).

Third Party

As a touring company today, Third Party echo their enterprise and give us a great unstoppable story, full of vitality and dynamic dash - this is no historical re-enactment, but a theatrical event with all the fresh flavour of the original.

Richard III is perhaps the most popular of Shakespeare's 'history plays', with Richard as the towering central character that audiences love to hate - Dick the crook-back chancer, a believable villain who sees the glimmer of an opportunity for power and pursues it for all he's worth, all the way to Hell on a handcart.

quoteThere is enough dynamism, intelligence and unbridled glee on stage to ensure any audience a night of deliciously dangerous, testing theatre.quote
TimeOut

Third Party founder member (and ex- Medieval Player) Nick Collett plays Richard to perfection - close-cropped head, an oversized overcoat to accommodate his hump, and sinister black leather gloves that never come off.

Press acclaim for Third Party's shows is ecstatic:
"Irresistible Shakespeare ... intimate highly portable stagecraft ... the company's professionalism, sense of teamwork and respect for the text were all outstanding." PLAYS & PLAYERS.

Richard III can be seen at: Stanwix Arts Theatre, on Sunday 9 November, Ullswater College, Penrith on Friday 14 November or The Market Hall, Appleby on Saturday 15 November.
