An
exciting new project investigating what it means to be Cumbrian.
Cumbria.
92 miles long, 60 odd miles wide. The most sparsely populated county
in the whole of England.
Weve
got the countrys highest mountain, deepest lake and most controversial
power station. But what makes Cumbria uniquely Cumbrian? You know,
different from say Yorkshire
. or Northumberland
or
Lancashire? And what makes us feel Cumbrian and feel at home here?
Well
thats what were about to investigate in an exciting
new BBC project called A Sense of Place.
In
spring 2002 well be broadcasting a series of six half hour
programmes, on BBC Radio Cumbria, about what it means to be Cumbrian.
Well travel the length and breadth of the county to find out
if theres really such a thing as a Cumbrian personality; if
the picture painted by the press is an accurate portrayal of the
county; and to find Cumbrias favourite place.
And
of course we need your help. What do you think it means to be Cumbrian?
And which place in the county most sums up the spirit of Cumbria?
