Kaskelot is one of the largest remaining wooded ships in commission.

She was built by J. Ring Andersen in 1948 for the Royal Greenland Trading Company, supplying the remote East Greenland coastal settlements.

In the late 1960s, Kaskelot then worked as a fisheries support vessel in The Faroes.

Square Sail purchased her in 1981, who redesigned and re-rigged her to replicate the Terra Nova to return to East Greenland to film Captain Scott’s ill fated expedition to the South Pole.

Apparently, "Kaskelot" means 'sperm whale' in Danish!
