Would
you describe this thermometer as ghost Ad?
There appear to be two of these in Cockermouth. One for sale in
a shop window in Main Street, and this one on the wall of Cockermouth's
Antiques in Station Street - so they are probably not rare, but
anyway it was a lot warmer in Cockermouth this morning than the
35F shown by this thermometer.
I failed to find anything about Stephens Inks on the net. So I assume
it is long gone. Pity... I used to write to my girl friends in their
Violet Ink!

I
am a glass blower and blow about 2 new tubes for these thermometers
a year , this is the largest version of 3 sizes. Look at my
company www.russell-scientific.co.uk
"thermometer repairs" I have one of these myself
on my office wall(also other ones,Duckhams being the popular
one).

I
happened upon this page while searching for more information
on a similar thermometer that I found as a child in Shanghai.
I believe it dates to the 1920's, and was curious to find
out what i could about it after seeing a reproduction identical
to the picture you are showing in a movie. I would appreciate
any assistance in finding more information.
Thankyou
