My
husband was born and raised in Cumbria, but now he's living in Boston
where we are raising our children. He was so excited to find Post
Man Pat on the telly and our children LOVE it. We watch two episodes
before bedtime every night. Post Man Pat ( Pat Pat) was one our
18 month olds first words.

In
answer to Daniel Lees question, Postman Pats surname
is Clifton. I discovered this by accident whilst drafting a case
study for a family law conference and thought his family would be
a good choice.

Does
postman pat have a last name?

I'll
be glad to help!
If Joy's father was called Jim, and was running the Beast Banks
Post Office in 1978, then the answer is yes, Postman Pat was conceived,
and the outline written, a few doors along, on Greenside. When I
was thinking it all up, I went along to see Jim, to ask him about
the ways country postmen go about their work. He was very kind and
very helpful; a really nice man; and I visited him in his home,
a bit later on. I'm very sad to hear that he died in 1996. He was
a very popular member of the local community, and I'm grateful for
the help he gave me.
Best wishes,
John Cunliffe
I have
this evening watched The Antique Roadshow and at the end of the
programme Michael Aspel said that Postman Pat originated in Kendal
and was based on the sadly now closed sub post office in Greenside.
I have recently returned to Cumbria having being brought up in Kendal.
My father who died in 1996 ran the post office mentioned for many
years.
I would love to know if the stories originated during my father's
time at Beast Bank Post Office.
Is it possible to get this information for me please? Kind Regards.

I
knew the postman John Cunliffe based Postman Pat on. He was one
of three postmen who delivered to the Post Office my parents had
in South Cumbria in the early 70s.

Re:
Pat's extra finger.
BBC News have an article about doctoring animations so they are
suitable for a Japanese audience.

Is
it true that Pat had to have an extra finger adding in China so
he didn't look like a ganster?

As
a lifelong fan of Postman Pat I was delighted when it came back
to our screens on cbeebies, and although the show has been heavily
modernised it still manages to retain the charm and sheer brilliance
that made the series such a childrens' favourite.
However........as
I have grown older (not wiser) it has come to my attention that
I never knew whether Jess was male or female; I always presumed
Jess to be a 'he' however a friend of mine tells me 'he' is a 'she'.
Would you be so kind as to shed some light on this most delicate
matter as I would be eternally greatful if you could.
