Spiritualized's
album 'Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating in Space' beat Radiohead's
'OK Computer' to win the coveted NME Album of the Year award in 1997.
In
2003, the band went for a more raw sound, influenced by the likes
of the White Stripes, and released the album 'Amazing Grace'.
'Amazing
Grace' was recorded over a three week period at Rockfield Studios,
with the six-piece band learning the songs from scratch and recording
them live within a day or so of first rehearsing each track.

This
is in complete contrast to 'Let It Come Down', the 2001 album which
saw 100 musicians involved in sessions at Abbey Road studios.
Spiritualized's
tour at the end of 2003 was called the Tour of the Year by NME.
The band hope that the tour beginning in Whitehaven in 2004 will
be even better.
It's
no accident that the first night is at the Civic: the band actually
requested this due to the intimate surroundings and felt this would
the ideal place to kick off the tour.
The
competition
Sharon
Swift from Brampton and Matt Brown from Penrith each won a pair
of tickets to the gig.
