Just
stumpled across your review of the Sands Centre concert and wanted
to give you a comment on my experinece with my latest Runrig concerts
here in Denmark, including the Proterra concert at the "Train"
concert place in Aarhus. It was awsome.....
The following in Bold was my impressions I mailed to Runrig following
this concert:
To Runrig...
As another fantastic "Runrig Year" nears its closure, I,
a long time Runrig fan, just want to express my gratitude for the
amazing shows I have experienced this year.
This years concerts started out in my home town of Silkeborg (Indelukket),
followed up by the Nibe Festival, and finishing with a fantastic show
in Århus (Train) on Tuesday the 30th September. Since I missed
this years concert at Stirling Castle, I and some friends hope to
make up for this and are planning to make a trip to Scotland next
year and experience you on home ground...
I have been a Runrig fan since about 1987, but this years concert
in Århus was my BEST ever (even though Malcolm had a few minor
problems with his guitar strings and his pipes). Especially your medley
in the midle of the show scored a lot of points among some of my family
members, that I over the last few years have introduced (with great
success) to Runrig.
You have'nt been better in a long, long time....
Thanks for giving us some very special music, thats appreciated across
so many different generations. Keep up the good work...
I have seen a lot of reviews of the Proterra album here in Denmark,
and only one them has been a bit negative about some of the new tunes
thats introduced on the album (I cant disagree enough with this guy
though...); the rest of the reviews have been absolutely great to
read. As far as I know the Proterra album went in as a number 16 on
the danish charts on the first week. I think this is quite impressing
and must be due to the fact, that Runrig has a very large fan crowd
here in Denmark.
This band is simply the best....

I have
just read the article you have posted on the recent Runrig tour
in England. I saw them at the Cambridge Corn Exchange in November
and had the chance to meet the group afterwards. I am a relative
newcomer to the band, and have seen them only 6 times, needless
to say I think they are a great team. What puzzles me so much is
that the press seem to ignore them, including the BBC (until I saw
this article). Why? I do not understand it at all, as their music
is so varied and live they perform brilliantly - trust me, I never
would have dreamed I would go to a concert and find myself singing
Loch Lomond - you have to be there to experience it. Long may they
continue to tour. All the best Colin Knight, Suffolk
Hi
everybody at BBC
I saw
Runrig on the german tour in Cologne and both concerts were very
special. On Sep. 27 th. the Palladium was nearly sold out, everybody
was waiting for the live performance of Proterra and a new
Runrig show, when a announcement was made: Iain Bayne is ill, the
concert can't be made.
We were shocked, anxious about Iain, what would happen? But Runrig
performed some songs without Iain and promised to come back on October
11 th.
So,
once again we took a ride to Cologne some weeks later to see the
whole show - and the whole band!!!
It
was another very very special concert this evening. I can say, I've
seen a lot of great bands over the last 20 years, but a Runrig concert
is something very special to me and I think to most other fans.
With the
new songs, performed in a brilliant way, wonderful oldies - still
played
with fun and endless power, some "acoustic" highlights
in the middle,
two hours were gone in a moment .
What
makes the difference between Runrig and the usual Pop Business?
It's the songs from the Macdonalds, its the feeling in the voices,
its
what Malcolm gets out of his instruments, its how a drummer and
percussionist duo "work" and feel the rhythm, its the
fun and still the
freshness of the band. It's the fans and it's emotion in everything.
It's the combination of real and good craftsmanship, musical genius
and
the feeling, that they not only do a job on stage. Runrig take the
fans
seriously!
I think
that are some points, that make the difference.
We
hope to share music and more live shows with Runrig for a long time
in future,
best
wishes from an 47 year old Runrig fan

Hello
to every one at BBC Cumbria!
I've just read the review ... about Runrig at the sand centre, and
I was very impressed. The fact that it was a fan who did the review
made all the difference! I have read an awful view of the band recently
and it was so enlightening to read such a heartfelt review of the
band for once!
I've just been to two concerts on this tour and I have to say that
they have got better and better since I first saw them in '95. I've
been a fan since I was 6 years old (so thats 15 years now) and I've
not been able to go to many concerts until I met my husband, who
I met through someone in the Runrig chat room on the Runrig web
site. He had a spare concert ticket and so he took me and that was
it, 5 years later married and two kids! So the band means a lot
to us!
Once again thank you for such a wonderful review of the band

Dear
Paul
You wanted to know what the old film was whilst playing rocket to
the moon, it was archive footage of the clearances something that
is very dear to rory & callum's heart and something that I feel
for them as I am into runrig in a very big way and have been for
a very long time. Can I suggest that you visit north uist and you
will certainly learn a lot about runrig and what their music really
means. The concert at the sands was brilliant as is all of the concerts
that they do.I have met the band and they are real gentlemen especially
rory who spent ages talking to me and my wife,my wife's favourite
is callum. If you want to learn anything more about the best band
in the world just ask !!!
Best regards
Allan Proctor
