Louder: For all your music needs
Sadie Hawkins Dance local loudER

Your chance, to have your band featured on the BBC Cumbria website...

Sadie Hawkins Dance

Your band, your words, your music...
Sadie Hawkins Dance

In case you haven't heard of SADIE HAWKINS DANCE, they are a hyped-up, female-fronted melodic rock quintet with hard metal and emo punk icing...and more fret-fireworks than a cold November's eve.

With intelligent, spiky lyrics, SHD urge their listeners to harness the energy generated at a live gig, and use it to fight the good fight, remembering that there is more to life than consuming and individualism.

Singer Crystal Grenade, described by Manchester's City Life as "Gwen Stefani on a bad acid trip", heads the troupe. With the dress sense of Penny Crayon, the Rock poses of Freddie Mercury and the voice of Hazel O'Connor, all lacquered perfectly into place with umpteen cans of glitter spray, Ms. Grenade causes quite a technicolour splash where e'er she tottles in her 6 inch stilettoes.

2005 saw the band tour Norway, with Scandanavia's answer to Tool, Ribozyme. Comparisons to the Sadie Hawkins sound and stage show range from Sioxsie and the Banshees to Skunk Anansie, via Garbage and Soundgarden, with lashings of pizz and zazz.

There is currently much excitement in Camp SHD, with the arrival of new drummer Grazer Bennett, and the sudden courtship of several noteworthy record labels, which has led to some free studio time this month.

Upcoming gigs:

Thurs 19th Jan @ The Duke, Barrow-in-Furness
Sat 28th Jan @ Civic Hall, Whitehaven
Fri 10th Feb @ The Cross Bar, Barrow-in-Furness
Thurs 2nd March @ The Duke, Barrow-in-Furness
Fri 10th March @ The Yorkshire House, Lancaster
