They make for good photographs, but I would have preferred to see daffodils...

This was an inspiring foray into contempory art for the lake district. Too often are the lakes shackled by a redendant fascination with the past. Bring it on, Hirst's sheep in formaldehyde for Shap Fell!

We visited Grasmere (sat) to see the red balls for red nose day and were very disapointed that only2 were there and these were in the river between Grasmere and Rydal Water we had very strong wind yesterday(fri) we wondered if they had blown away or if they were stolen, Please what happened and where can I buy postcards of them Thankyou

This is much more like it! Wordsworth and Ruskin have been dead for over a hundred years now. We should stop looking to the past for inspiration and guidance on art and culture in cumbria and start thinking for ourselves, like the rest of the world.

Art? A string of large red balloons? Daft! I only hope the payment for this didn't come from the public's purse!

Well i will have to come to Grassmere to see them while they are on the lake ,Art comes in all shapes and sizes these days .
Marian Harrison
The red balls have spoiled the natural beauty of the lake. Wordsworth would be horrified as are most people who want to see beauty in art. I hope they are removed as soon as possible.

I think it's crazy. It's certainly not what I call art.

to be honest i would not call this art surley the money which has been used for this could have gone straight to the red nose charity the art disolay is a load of old balls.
