Help playing audio/video The second year of the Landscape Photographer of the Year competition is now under way and entrants have until the middle of July to submit their photographs of the British landscape.
The idea of landscape photographer, Charlie Waite, the competition offers a total prize fund of £20,000, including £10,000 for the overall winner. Charlie Waite says of it “The first year of the Awards exceeded all expectations. The standard of the work was amazing and the exhibition was a great success. The emails that we receive really show that the landscape is something with which we all identify and get great pleasure from. I am very pleased that my aim, to involve as many people as possible in making images that symbolise our land and our times, has been met in the most positive way. I can’t wait to see this year’s entries.” ![]() Over recent months, Waite has been working closely with the nations and regions of the UK who could benefit from links with a competition that showcases many varied destinations to potential visitors. He is very happy to announce that that the 2008 Landscape Photographer of the Year Award has the support of EnjoyEngland, Visit Wales, VisitScotland, VisitBritain, Britain on View, VisitGuernsey, Jersey Tourism and the Northern Ireland Tourist Board. In 2007, there were five commended entries & one highly commended entry from Cumbria. These entries appeared at the National Theatre exhibition and also in the Awards book -" Landscape Photographer of the Year - Collection 01".
