ProfilesYou are in: Cumbria > People > Profiles > Extreme photography ![]() Ian taking photos of a kite surfer Extreme photographyProduced by Mark Robertson Normally you'd never take thousands of pounds worth of camera equipment into the sea ... but it's what Ian Edmondson does every day to make a living ...
Ian Edmondson runs a company that specialises in extreme sports photography. Whether it's skateboards, snowboards, BMX bikes or on the day we caught up with him, kite surfing, you'll find Ian in its midst camera in hand, capturing the action. Today we found him waist deep (and deeper) in the Irish Sea capturing the action from the start of the second round of the British Kite Surfing Association's championships. Over the past year Ian has been half-way round the world, to such places as South Africa, the Dominican Republic, the south of France and even Scotland! ![]() Rob Snuggs in the air. Photo ExPix And why does Ian like standing waist deep in cold salty waters, that could ruin his equipment in a moment? "It's a challenge" he says with a shrug of the shoulders. "It's different from taking a portrait or wedding shots. It's my competition. It's my life." Links
