Lakeland Limited in Windermere has been judged by The Civic Trust as one of the best new buildings to open in the UK (March 2007).

The awards acknowledge the UK-wide success in new build, renovation, or regeneration of both public and privately-owned buildings, as well as landscaping and public spaces.

Winning schemes highlight the positive impact that the built environment has on local communities.

The Lakeland Limited building at Station Precinct in Windermere, has been described by the Civic Trust judges as “An attractive and successful project which combines exciting and contemporary design with the building’s location in the historic and rural setting of the Lake District.”

Peter Bembridge, Managing Director of The Civic Trust, said: “The high standard of entries, combined with an increased awareness of sustainability has led to more buildings which not only meet the needs of local communities through good design, but also have made environmental impact a key aspect of the completed project.”
