Digital TV / Benefits Day The Whitehaven area of Cumbria will be the first region in the county to have the analogue TV signal switched off. This will be happening in October 2007. If you live in the affected region, you will be receiving further information from Digital UK about it over the next few months. The Cumbria Initiative, Age Concern Northwest Cumbria, Copeland Borough Council and Digital UK are jointly organising an event in Whitehaven where Copeland residents can find out about Digital TV - and Benefits. On the evening of the 15th Feb there is also a public meeting about digital switchover The Information Day offers residents: - Information and advice about the forthcoming digital switchover due to take place in Copeland this October.
- Opportunity for people to find out more about benefit entitlements and get help and advice from The Pensions Service and other experts.
When and where will the event be? - The 'Digital TV / Benefits Day' event will take place in Whitehaven Civic Hall between 12noon and 6.30pm on Thursday 15th February 2007
- A public meeting about DIGITAL SWITCHOVER in Copeland will also take place at the Civic Hall in the evening from 6.30pm
Both events are open to everyone and tea and coffee will be available all day Voluntary groups, retailers and support agencies will be on hand to give technical advice and information about how to get ready for Digital TV. The Pensions Service team and advisers can provide information about a range of benefits including Pension Credit and Council Tax Benefits. Digital UK is organising events across Copeland so that everyone can prepare for the switchover in October.
