Animals in acrylics

Painter, writer and teacher, Christine Gooding's an all-round talent - find out more on her work here ...

I’m Christine Goodings, 62 retired through age and disability. I came to Barrow in Furness originally to visit family and fell in love with the people as well as the town. I have lived in Barrow for over 17 yrs. I did a three year art and design course at Furness college.

Before I had to give up work, I ran a craft studio were we taught various crafts to all ages groups, I also sold my own and other Barrow crafters work. We were so busy that I over-worked myself and became ill.

Now that I have the time I’ve been able to return to my first love ART, I also have time to write, I’m working on my third novel, I have also written several children’s stories all unpublished as yet. But hoping. I love trying to paint birds and animals real or fiction. I mainly use Acrylic on canvas.

I am a member of a group of artists called Chromazone and have 5 paintings (these pieces of work are more contemporary then the work I normally do.) in their exhibition that is running at the dock museum her in Barrow at the moment.

In the past I’ve exhibited at:

  • The Dock Museum
  • Forum 28
  • Furness college
  • Displayed installation work at Grizdale Forest
  • Commission work for Kepplewray house
