The BBC Bus Revealed

It's got 4 wheels, 6 computers, full broadcast kit, a satellite and loads of cables hidden away. But what is the BBC bus for and what can you get out of it?

Learning with the BBC bus

BBC Learning

The BBC website contains over half a million pages of news, entertainment, educational and factual material. There is a growing range of online courses available on the site. There's also a wealth of educational programmes available across the BBC's TV and radio channels.

Our Partners

Our bus is supported by:

Cumbria County Council.

The principal aim of the Education Directorate is to raise education standards and promote a culture of lifelong learning in Cumbria.

Other Organisation we have links with are:

Cumbria Libraries

Most libraries in Cumbria now offer internet access, and for many people this is free.

Cumbria Credits

Cumbria Credit provides a range of education and training opportunities for individuals and communities through a unique county-wide network of award winning Community Development Centres.

Connexions Cumbria

An online youth support service for all young people aged 13-19.

Want to learn how to get online, use a digital camera, edit videos on your PC, or even make a digital story for your family to cherish?

Or would you like to see the broadcast kit and experience how it works? Maybe you could:

- tell us your story
- do a Thought for the Day
- do a Breakfast Serial

Or if you don't feel ready to hear your voice on the radio, perhaps you may prefer to:

- write a small article about your community for the BBC Cumbria web site
- write an article about yourself for the web site
- edit and e-mail your photos to BBC Cumbria
- create some digital art for the website
- do some research or look for a job on the internet
- learn a language or another skill using the BBC web site
- find out more about the BBC

If any of the above appeal, then welcome to the BBC Bus, a free local service which is there to help you use the computers to create content for BBC Radio Cumbria or the BBC Cumbria website. The team can also help you find a computer course in your area.
