Organiser Kate Blundell was brought up in Coniston but now lives in Liverpool.  Recently, she's become more involved in the music scene down there and feels that Coniston is one of the few proper un-spoiled villages in the Lakes.

"There's five pubs, a few good restaurants, local shops and basically everything you need"
Kate Blundell, organiser

"When my Dad and I became involved in the festival (some four years ago) we realised the potential of the village as a festival venue. There's five pubs, a few good restaurants, local shops and basically everything you need. There are good watersports facilities & boat hire on the lake and plenty of walking to be done too!"

Kate feels that providing a platform for unsigned musicians is extremely important and by making this event into a charity event, she hopes that there will be support from the local community.

"Growing up in Coniston, it seemed to me that because the population density in Cumbria is relatively low, there is often little money to fund sporting events such as football training. This would make a huge difference to the local kids, and since I was one them not so long ago, I feel particularly strongly about this cause!"

Music With A View Festival

Some of the bands are already receiving a lot of interest from record companies. This makes it all the more special that they have agreed to come to this event - all the musicians are giving up their time for free in order to raise money for local charities.

Music with a View 2005  - Two days of Live Music in Support of Coniston First Responders Local Youth Projects, 29th – 30th July. Coniston Sports and Social Club, LA21 8AL.
