Bart and friends head for the Sun Sphere of Knoxville.

Episode 3F17
Written by Richard Appel
Directed by Swinton 0. Scott III
Also starring: Pamela Hayden, Jim Lau, Tress MacNeille, Russi Taylor

Premise: A fake ID gives Bart the chance to take to the road. Accompanied by Milhouse, Nelson and Martin - and using the alibi of the National Grammar Rodeo - he sets off for Knoxville, Tennessee, home of the fantastic Sun Sphere.

Features: Principal Skinner, Patty and Selma, Milhouse, Mr van Houten, Martin Prince, Nelson, Moe, Barney, the two barflies, Smithers.

Couch: The Simpsons are deposited on to the sofa like bowling pins.

Trivia:

  • Springfield Elementary's address is 19 Plympton Street.
  • Principal Skinner's holiday is booked with SkyAmeriWestica.
  • Mr and Mrs Prince are seen for the first time since the first season.
  • According to his fake driver's licence, Bart is 4' 9, with black eyes, and weighs 85 lbs.
  • It gives the Simpsons' address as 742 Evergreen Terrace.

Homage: Naked Lunch (David Cronenberg, 1992) is the movie adaptation of William Burroughs' novel dealing with heroin addiction, homosexuality and hallucinogens.

Hello, can I speak to: Ura Snotball.

Notes: This contains some superb and touching character scenes between Homer and Lisa, a fascinating glimpse of Marge's insecurities, and some nice touches - Nelson's love of Andy Williams, Martin's toy dog - that take it above the series' very high average.
