Seymour for Smallville

Jane Seymour to play pivotal role in Smallville.

Jane Seymour, TV's Dr Quinn Medicine Woman, and the actress most often described using the words 'English Rose', will appear in a story arc spanning five episodes of the fourth season of Smallville.

The Comics Continuum website reports that Jane will play Jason Teague's (Jensen Ackles) mother, Genevieve, described as "a rich, powerful Metropolis socialite who may hold the key to Lana's mysterious tattoo".

Here at Cult we love Ms Seymour - as she's always good for a quote or anecdote.

According to Jane, the script of Dr Quinn arrived in her hands just as she was facing financial ruin. She had a mountain of bills with no work in sight. Jane believes it was her father's spirit intervening...

"Suddenly it was there, offering me a lifeline, and I believe that somehow my father, who had died two years before, was watching over me and directed the script to me." Spooky.

TV Guide Online also reports that this Wednesday's episode will include a tribute to Christopher Reeve, who sadly died last Sunday.
