Arthur Dent speaks

Simon Jones talks about the new Hitchhiker's radio series.

In an interview with Dreamwatch Magazine, Simon Jones talks about reprising his role in an adaptation of Life, the Universe and Everything.

Talking about writer/director Dirk Maggs' new adaptation he comments, "Dirk has stuck directly to the story, and he's written these pretty good, tight scripts. If Douglas were here I doubt he would have any objections because it's based on what he wrote."

Jones comments on how some things never change, "we had a sound effects man opening and shutting doors and rattling cups of tea rather than sound effects being added later, so it was all rather nostalgic."

And reveals one of the more amazing co-stars of the new series "To have Douglas [Adams] playing Agrajag was quite extraordinary," admits Jones. "The cue man held this speaker next to me and I had a dialogue with this box which contained Douglas' voice. It was most peculiar."

Jones also talks about the big-budget movie adaptation to be released next summer and starring The Office's Martin Freeman as Arthur Dent and discloses that he has a cameo role in the film.

Dreamwatch Magazine is out now. Life, the Universe and Everything airs on Radio 4 from 21st September at 6.30pm.
